Last updated: December 31, 2025•10 min read

    Overview

Creating high-quality products is key to success on Themely. This guide covers everything you need to know about product creation, from supported file formats to pricing strategies and optimization tips.

    Product Guidelines

All products on Themely must meet these quality standards:

    Quality Requirements

    • Original Work: Products must be your own creation or you must have proper rights/licenses
    • Professional Quality: Well-organized, bug-free, and production-ready
    • Complete Package: Include all necessary files, documentation, and assets
    • Clear Description: Accurate, detailed description of what's included
    • High-Quality Previews: Professional screenshots or mockups showing the product

⚠️ Prohibited Content: Products containing copyrighted material, offensive content, malware, or that violate our Terms of Service will be rejected and may result in account suspension.

    Supported File Formats

Themely supports a wide range of file formats to accommodate different types of digital products. The allowed formats are configured by platform administrators and may vary.

    File Size Limits

💡 Pro Tip: Compress large files into .zip archives to save storage space and make downloads faster for customers. Always include a README file in your archive!

    Font Guidelines

Fonts are a crucial part of many design products. Understanding font licensing is essential to ensure your products comply with legal requirements and protect both you and your customers.

    ✅ Fonts You CAN Include

These fonts can be distributed with your products

Open Source Fonts (OFL, Apache, MIT)

Google Fonts, Font Awesome, Inter, Roboto, Open Sans, etc.

    Public Domain Fonts

Fonts explicitly released without copyright restrictions

    Your Own Custom Fonts

Fonts you have created yourself or have full distribution rights to

    Fonts with Extended/Commercial Licenses

If you've purchased a license that allows redistribution in templates

    ⛔ Fonts You CANNOT Include

Distributing these fonts may result in product rejection

    Paid/Commercial Fonts (Without Extended License)

Fonts from Envato Elements, Adobe Fonts, MyFonts, etc. without redistribution rights

    Desktop-Only Licensed Fonts

Many font licenses only allow personal use, not redistribution

    System Fonts (Varies by OS)

San Francisco (Apple), Segoe UI (Microsoft), etc. - check specific licensing

    Pirated or Illegally Obtained Fonts

This includes fonts downloaded from unauthorized sources

📋 When Fonts Cannot Be Included

Required documentation for products using paid fonts

If your design uses fonts that cannot be redistributed, you must include:

    1

    Font Name & Source

Clear identification of the font name and where to purchase/download it

    2

    Direct Link to Font

URL to the official font page (e.g., Google Fonts, Adobe Fonts, font foundry)

    3

    Free Alternative Suggestion

Recommend a similar free font that customers can use as a fallback

    Pricing Strategies

Setting the right price for your products is crucial. Here are pricing guidelines and strategies:

    Free Products (All Authors)

    • Great for building an audience and portfolio
    • Helps you gather reviews and feedback
    • Can lead to future paid product sales
    • No limitations on downloads or usage

    Paid Products (Verified Authors Only)

    Consider these factors when pricing:

    • Complexity & Time: How long did it take to create?
    • Value Provided: How much time/money does it save customers?
    • Market Research: What are similar products priced at?
    • Your Experience: Established authors can command higher prices

    Pricing Sweet Spots

    $9-19

    Simple Assets

Icon sets, small components, simple templates

    $29-49

    Template Packs

UI kits, comprehensive templates, design systems

    $79+

    Premium/Complex

Full applications, extensive libraries, enterprise solutions

    Writing Great Product Descriptions

Your product description is your sales pitch. Make it count!

    Description Structure

    1. Opening Hook: Start with the main benefit or problem solved (1-2 sentences)
    2. What's Included: List all files, components, or features
    3. Use Cases: Explain who it's for and how to use it
    4. Technical Details: File formats, compatibility, requirements
    5. Support & Updates: What support/updates customers can expect

    Example Description Template:

🎯 [Product Name] - Transform your design workflow with this comprehensive [type] kit designed for [target audience].

    • • 50+ fully customizable components
    • • 3 color schemes (light, dark, high contrast)

🔧 Technical: Compatible with Figma, Sketch, and Adobe XD

    Creating Effective Preview Images

High-quality preview images are crucial - they're the first thing customers see!

    Preview Image Guidelines

    • Minimum 3 images: Products with 3+ previews get 3x more downloads
    • First image is hero: Make it compelling and representative
    • Show, don't tell: Display actual product usage, not just files
    • High resolution: At least 1920x1080px for best quality
    • Consistent style: Use similar styling across all previews

    What to Show

    1. Hero Shot: Product in action or most appealing view
    2. Key Features: Highlight 2-3 standout features
    3. Details: Close-ups of important components
    4. Variations: Different color schemes or options
    5. What's Included: Overview of all files/components

💡 Tools for Mockups: Use tools like Figma, Adobe XD, or online mockup generators (Mockuuups, Shotsnapp, Previewed) to create professional-looking previews.
