Corrupted or Broken Files
How to fix corrupted downloads and get working files.
What is File Corruption?
A corrupted file is one that has been damaged during download, saving, or transfer. Corrupted files may fail to open, show error messages, or extract improperly.
Common Signs
- • "File is corrupted" error message
- • Can't open or extract the file
- • Unexpected file size (too small or wrong)
- • Missing files after extraction
- • Software crashes when opening
Quick Fixes (Try These First)
Most corruption happens during download. Re-downloading usually fixes the problem.
Delete the Corrupted File
Remove the broken file from your downloads folder
Go to Your Library
Visit /account/purchases to access your products
Download Again
Click the download button to get a fresh copy
Wait for Complete Download
Don't interrupt or cancel the download this time
Some browsers handle downloads differently. If re-downloading doesn't work, try Chrome, Firefox, or Edge.
Clear Browser Cache First
Settings → Privacy → Clear browsing data
Disable Extensions
Download managers or security extensions might interfere
Try Incognito Mode
Private browsing disables extensions and uses default settings
If you get errors when extracting ZIP or RAR files, try a different tool:
Windows
Try 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR instead of built-in Windows extractor
macOS
Try The Unarchiver (free) or Keka instead of built-in Archive Utility
Linux
Use p7zip or unzip from command line
Advanced Solutions
Download to Different Drive
If your main drive has errors, try downloading to a different disk
Check Disk Space
Make sure you have at least 2x the file size available in free space
Disable Antivirus Temporarily
Some antivirus programs can interfere with downloads (re-enable after)
Use Download Manager
Tools like Free Download Manager can resume interrupted downloads
Repair ZIP Files
Tools like WinRAR or 7-Zip have repair functions for damaged archives
Check Your Internet Connection
Unstable connections can cause corruption. Use wired connection for large files.
Preventing File Corruption
Don't Interrupt Downloads
Let downloads complete fully before closing browser or shutting down
Use Stable Connection
Wired Ethernet is more reliable than Wi-Fi for large files
Keep Browser Updated
Latest browser versions have better download handling
Verify File Size
Check if downloaded file size matches the product page
Free Up Disk Space
Ensure adequate free space before downloading
